In recent years Saigon has blossomed into a vibrant lively city where food is high on the list. Going out to eat has become a favorite pastime and the Vietnamese expect quality whether they dine in a roadside stall or one of the new upscale restaurants. You can dine on such local specialties as Pho, the soup that is the unofficial national dish of Vietnam, or canh cua, a delectable soup of noodles, cilantro and crabmeat, or elect to eat French at Le Gordon Bleu or in the rooftop restaurant at the Sofitel. On this tour we have combined the best restaurants both Vietnamese and French, and have added 4-day visit to Siem Reap in Cambodia to see the astonishing complex of Angkor Wat, and dine at Chef Serge Rigondin's elegant "Mouhot's Dream" and the romantic candle-lit Cafe Indochine.  Great sights and great food make this a true "foodies dream tour".

Visit one of the islands where exotic fruits are grown, and to enjoy a delicious fruit snack.  At another island a horse-drawn carriage ride will take you to a bee farm where you can taste the honey they produce and candies made from fruit and honey.  Later sail through the narrow jungle bordered canals of the Mekong Delta to relax over a lunch of grilled fish in a romantic little pavilion set in a sea of water lilies.  Before returning to Saigon visit the tow of Mytho and the Vinh Trang Pagoda, time permitting.  After returning to the hotel the there is time for a drink at the hotel's beautiful roof top lounge before a fine Vietnamese dinner at Mandarin, perhaps the most famous of Vietnamese restaurants in the city with a guest list of who's who. B L D

Day 5  -  This morning visit the infamous Chu Chi Tunnels from where the Viet Congs (short for Vietnamese Communists) launched their Tet Offensive in 1968 which was the real beginning of the Vietnamese War. Sections of the tunnels are open so that you can crawl through them, and we mean crawl, even some which have been made larger for western tourists are to low to stand up in. After returning to Saigon enjoy a lunch of such specialties as canh cua, a delectable crab noodle soup and Vietnamese crepes. The remainder of the afternoon is on your own to go shopping, explore the nearby exotic spice and flower market or just relax for a while. Dinner today is at Le Gordon Bleu where food is French and delectable. B L D

The Caodai are a religious sect like no other. They have rolled Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism all into one religion. It was invented by a civil servant who elected himself Pope and his cardinals were all female. Their saint is Victor Hugo. The temple is a wedding cake fantasy in pink, light blue, white and gold. Victor Hugo, Christ and Buddha are looking down from the roof of the temple along with dragons and snakes. It is a Disney fantasy at its very best.
