GREAT ITINERARY
A fabulous tour not only for automobile enthusiats.

Day 1 - Board your flight from USA to Rome.

Day 2 -  After arriving in Rome you have private transfers to the wonderful Hotel Modigliani only a short walk from the Spanish Steps, the Piazza Spagna and just about anything else. The famous and pricey shopping street, the Via Veneto,  is conveniently close by. After being deposited at the hotel by your driver get settled then join us later in the afternoon for a walk to familiarize you with what is where ending with a great dinner of wine and Roman fare in a well known local trattoria. D

Day 3  -  The day is at leisure to do as you please. You are in the thick of things to go exploring and you will be in the best of hands with the hotel's owners Marco and Gulia. Marco who is a writer for TV and radio, as well as a film producer wrote a personal guide for their guests of which you will find a copy in your room on arrival titled; "Seven easy walks around famous and unknown places, secret gardens, churches, art galleries, tiny streets, small restaurants and shops". It's all you need to know to make your stay in Rome a fantastic one. Dinner today is at Harry's Bar where you can watch the Mille Miglia cars come into the city from their outdoor dining room. B D

Day 4 - You might want to get up early to watch the Mille Miglia cars as they drive through the city on their last leg back to Brescia. The first car starts at 6:00 a.m, but it will take a few hours for 370 some cars get underway. At mid-morning have late breakfast then head out with Marco's book to see what you haven't seen. B

Day 5 - After breakfast get your rental car and drive north through the hills and vineyards to Civitella D'Agliano a tiny hilltop town seldom visited by American tourists. Here you are the guests of Sergio and Alessandra Mottura who have a beautiful manor house on the little town square which is bordered by 15th century buildings and a 13th century tower. The Motturas are wine growers and have their own cellar in the volcanic rock underneath the manor where you have a wine tasting which continues into a dinner not prepared by learned chefs but by local women whose recipes have been handed down through the generations. B D

Day 6 - After a leisurely breakfast go for a drive into the countryside. In nearby Bagneregio you are VIP guests at  the small Taruffi Museum set up in the memory of one the most famous Italian race drivers who won the Mille Miglia several times. Following your visit to the museum walk up to the ancient town of Civita D'Bagneregio, called the Dying Town  which perched on a hill above. The town was a thriving center of commerce some centuries ago, but then the lime stone cliffs on which it was build eroded and it was abandoned by most of its inhabitants. Today the lovely inner core of this now tiny town can be visited by walking up to it via a footbridge. In the evening enjoy another great dinner at the manor accompanied by the Mottura's wines. B D

Day 7 - After breakfast bid the Motturas goodbye to drive north to Modena where you follow the famous "Strada dei Castelli" the road of the castles, to Castelveto  which was an ancient Etruscan village in the 5th century B.C.  It is in an region of Italy away from the well trodden tourist routes where life takes on a slower pace. The countryside is agricultural, rich and fertile. It is the Emilia Romagna, the bread basket of Italy and you will be in for some fantastic food.  Your home for the next four nights is the Locanda Del Feudo set within the walls of the castle. The Locanda has only six rooms, all of them suites and we've got them all! B D

Day 8 -This morning  drive to Sant'Agata where you are a VIP visitor at Lamborghini. After a private visit to the factory relax over a slow lunch in the stylish  Lamborghini Cantina before touring the museum.  Afterwards return to Castelveto where he evening is on your own. B

Day 9  - Today you are a VIP guest at the world's most exclusive custom automobile builder, Modena Design. The firm builds the prestigious Pagani automobiles. Horacio Pagani made his debut at age 20 when he designed an F-3 which raced in Argentina under Renault team. Horacio Pagani's fondest dream, to design and build his own cars became reality in the late 80's when Modena Design, a cutting edge car company was established.  So take a look for yourself:  www.paganiautomobili.it  In the evening celebrate this special day with a dinner at the Locanda featuring the best foods and wines of Romagna Emila.  B D

Day 10 This morning a short drive will take you to Bologna one of Italy's most beautiful cities. En route you may want to visit a Balsamic Vinegar factory, a cheese farm where Parmegiano Reggioano is made, a producer of Prosciutto or plan in a stop at Galleria Ferrari the museum dedicated to legacy of Enzo Ferrari. A factory visit at Ferrari is only possible if you own a Ferrari which has to be applied for at Ferrari USA.
In the evening meet for dinner in a typical Bolognese Osteria. B D

Day 11 - The day free of explore Bolongna. Worthwhile is the climb to the top of the Assinelli Tower, one of Bologna't two leaning towers.   B           

Day 12  - Transfer to the airport for your return flight. B

You can also opt to add a couple of days in Florence or in Venice. Early reservations are recommended here too.
